IEA UPDATE
October 31, 2011
Bargaining and Insurance:
The IEA Bargaining Team has reached a tentative agreement regarding our Master Agreement with IPS. This is up for ratification through our membership. Please look for information regarding meetings and a ratification vote within the next two weeks.
The figures that were presented at the insurance informational meetings are still to be determined by our ratification vote. We have negotiated an increased board contribution for our bargaining unit members. If this is not ratified the figures quoted for bargaining unit members could significantly increase.
As part of the negotiations we bargained the yearly step increment that is no longer required to be paid and you received that as of your August 12, 2011, checks, if you were eligible. We agreed to the increment so that our unit members would not have to wait for their increase until we ratified the new Master Agreement.
We encourage you to attend one of the informational meetings and the ratification meeting in order to make an informed decision about our Master Agreement.
Reduction in Force (RIF)
Our Discussion Team has met with IPS to develop a fair and equitable process for the upcoming RIF. Please keep in mind that we are bound by the new state requirements not to let seniority be the only factor to determine who stays and who is RIF’d. We have all of the domains from the evaluation plus other factors that are included in this process. Also, be mindful that the point system will be taken from your Mid-Year Evaluation. We will release all criteria after the discussion has been reached. Rest assured that IEA has tried to make it as equitable as possible and to help retain senior bargaining unit members.
Please remain encouraged, you are a wonderful asset to the children of IPS and IEA thanks you for your dedication. Remember, IEA is not Ann or Rod, nor the office on Shadeland Avenue, but IEA is YOU.
Thanks for all you do,
Ann Wilkins, Rod Ellcessor,
IEA President ISTA UniServ Director
