IEA UPDATE

February 16, 2012

Early Retirement Incentive:

To date we have 140 slots of the 150 assigned.  Please remember that we may gain more spots if IPS does not have 50 administrators sign up for the incentive.  ERIP intent to Retire forms will be accepted until March 16, 2012, between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 4:45p.m. Monday through Friday.  If you have submitted an Intent to Retire letter prior to this incentive being offered you will need to submit the Intent to Retire form and have it time stamped and numbered to be considered for the additional $20,000 incentive.

Final Summative Evaluations:

Unsatisfactory Final Summative Evaluations are to be completed by March 1, 2012.  If you find yourself in this position you should contact the IEA office immediately.  You are entitled to a second evaluator only if you request in writing within six (6) teaching days after the receipt of the summative evaluation report.

NEA State Delegate Elections:

We need your help.  You should have received your copy of the NEA TODAY recently.  IEA is trying to have more of our members to attend the NEA Representative Assembly. In order to do that, we need your help in returning your ballot to ISTA with the following people selected: Ann M. Wilkins, Barbara J. Morgan and Alene M. Smith.  You have 42 slots to fill and we would greatly appreciate your votes for the three of us.  If you would like more information on other nominees on the ballot please feel free to contact Ann at the IEA office or speak with Barbara or Alene.  As one of the largest urban locals in the state we need to speak up loud and clear and have our voice heard specifically about issues that we live on a daily basis.  We thank you in advance for your support.

Teacher Reimbursement:

The deadline for reimbursement has been extended to April 9, 2012 at 4:45pm.  We also will be having discussion about this at District Discussion.  Thanks to our legislature reimbursement is no longer negotiable, just discussable.  We will try to convince the district not to let this be a cut line item in the budget, but we will have to go to the board meetings and talk to the board about how much we spend and how this reimbursement just helps us give more to our students.  How many pencils, boxes of paper, crayons, scissors and other supplies that you need to help your students learn and complete assignments have you bought.  We must let them know that the district does not provide everything we need to help our children succeed.

RIF:

On February 17, 2012 if you are working in one of the four takeover schools certain staff members will be issued an Intent to Continue Employment Letter from the Superintendent. On March 14, 2012 a second series of letters will be distributed to certain staff of all other buildings.

Here is the link for registration  http://forms.ista-in.org/machform/view.php?id=3

If you register please notify IEA so that we can get a sub arranged for you, so it does go as an occurrence.  We only have so many days and want to use them effectively.

Rod and I want to thank you for your continued membership and dedication to the children of IPS.  Remember, IEA is not Ann or Rod, nor is it the office located on North Shadeland Avenue, IEA is YOU!  Membership has its privileges.
